im looking to find out if the 05 evo turbo will be the same as the o3 evo 8 is there any differences at all becuase i need to pretty much have two matching turbos and i want to know if all evo 8 turbos are the same if you know there not the mr and are completely stock with the 9.8 hot side on it

the answer is no.. they aren't the same.. My guess is your looking to TT your stang and looking to use 16g's. If your doing this just try to find two Evo IX turbo's, it's basically the same as an '05 Evo 8 with the 10.5 hotside, but the compressor side is also larger. But as far as your question goes the 03-04 Evo's came with the 9.8 hotside, in 05 they upgraded to a 10.5, and for 06 (evo 9's) they kept the 10.5 hotside but upgraded the compressor.. and it doesn't make any difference as far as models go (MR, GSR, RS) all of them come with the same turbo.

 

The only difference between the 03-40 and the 05 is the turbo hotside. Everything else is exactly the same. You can conver your 03-04 to an 05 by changing the hotside to a 10.5. BTW I have one Evo 9 hotside single flapper brand new, never used for sale ($200)
