What is this solenoid?

Does anybody know what this solenoid is for. I'm refering to the one at the right rear of the manifold connected to the 2 larger hoses/pipes. I see that one goes into the top of the manifold, but where does the other one go? Can this be removed without any issue? Thanx for any help you guys can give.

This is the purge solenoid for the carbon canister.

I'd suggest, before you do anything with these lines, you learn how all the lines, valves and solenoids on the fuel tank work. Otherwise you may set the SEL or cause damage to the fuel tank. I've looked at the diagrams so I know there is a lot of stuff back there.

This happened on another car ..... I capped off a vacuum line. After driving across town, I parked and happened to remain in the car for a minute when I heard a loud bang. It was, I discovered, the fuel tank expanding after collapsing due to the fuel removed during driving. If I had been on a long trip I would have destroyed the tank.

Maybe someone else knows what can safely be disconnected. I don't.

I wouldn't remove that. My car is fully built, and I DO still have that installed. The line with the check valve in it I run to the intake manifold, and the other line runs back to the fuel tank. Its up to with what you do, but like I said, I would leave it on the car.
