Question for u guys

hey guys/girls i got a question...today i was driving the evo and my cousin was in back of me in another car and he told me he saw SPARKS (not flame like u usually do) coming out of the exhaust. i kno for sure the exhaust is not hitting the floor cuz def i would feel it. so what can this be? sorry i barely kno about stuff like this but i kno u guys can help me out thanks alot and another thing... u know where u put water or antifreeze that goes down the radiator (sorry i dont kno the specific name) i put some last week and its gone like everything got used...is this normal or is it overheating? im not so sure its over heating cuz where it shows the temperature on the dash it shows that its normal..should i worry?thanks again

so u saw sparks and coolant is disappearing weird the sparks i have no idea but the coolant u could have a coolant leak somewhere in the engine bay it would prolly smell sweet all the time if u lost that much coolant or u could have blown a headgasket which is bad u could get a compression check for ur motor to see if the headgasket is bad

The reason that your coolant catch can is now empty is beacuse you prob had some air in the cooling system, and the hose that connects the radiator to the catch can is there so the cooling system can pull coolant from this catch can, and put fluid in the catch can when there is too much in the system. If your car had a blown head gasket you'd know it. Are you having a loss of power?? Is the coolant in your system now milky?? Is your engine oil milky?? Is your car throwing out bluish white smoke while driving??

As far as the sparks coming out of your exhaust, I have no idea what that could be. I see flames shooting out of the exhaust all the time, but as for the sparks, you got me..... Sorry

The first thing I'd do is check all the hoses for leaks. I've had leaks that didn't leave much of a wet spot behind but went through plenty of coolant.

So, look over the radiator for any wet spots and look over the hoses. Let see, there are 8 coolant hoses on this car: 2 from the radiator, 2 for the turbo, 2 for the heater and, 2 for the throttle body. Any of these could be leaking. Also, check the hose going from the cap to the bottle. It should be a tight fit at both ends.

If you see steam from the vents the heater core is bad.

Good luck.

if i do a hard pull in fourth gear at night, then shift to fifth and let it coast out. i can look in my mirror and see red ambers almost like if someone throws a ciggy out the window. i think this is what your seeing. maybe red hot carbon build up coming out the exhaust. that is if you have no cat ect.... to block it
