AEM to stock ecu = No start

So my friend and I have changed his car from decently modified w/ AEM EMS back to completely stock (minus the cams right now). We had to buy a different stock ecu (his car is an 04' and the ecu is an 05') and now that we have it all back to stock it won't start. We disabled the Immobilizer I think... and even if the Immobilizer was the problem wouldn't it start and the die after a few seconds? And it also wouldn't allow the fuel pump to pump at all wouldn't it? When we crank it over we can hear the fuel pump so...yeah. The other thing is, when we plugged our friends other AEM in it starts right up. We also tried my 03' stock ecu and it still does the same thing. The EGR system isn't hooked up right now but I wouldn't think that would stop it from starting. Anywho, any ides would be helpful bcz we r at a loss now. Thanks

If it's the immobilizer, the car won't even start. I'm not sure about the fuel pump though. I think all accessories will work, that see 12v, but the immobilizer is ignition related. (please correct me if i'm wrong)

Does anyone know another way of disabling the immobilizer if I send them my map or something? I used the old disable code (FFFF) trick but maybe its not working?

Open the xml file for your ROM number, and insert this at the end right before /rom

<table name="(periphery 0)" category="Misc" address="faa" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

Open ecu flash and change it to "0x56D2"

Also do you have any tephra mods installed?

Ok. nevermid that last post..for some reason when I first inputted that line into the xml file it didn't show up on ecuflash but now it does. The car is trying to start now but its acting like the timing is wrong or something bcz it sputters but doesn't quite start. Thanks btw for that xml code thing bcz it definitely unlocked the immobilizer..now I haver other issues...lol

So, there are some check engine lights and when I pull the codes I get crankshaft pos. bank A and camshaft pos bank A...For some reason it starts with the AEM though... I'm confused. Any Ideas...the only thing I can think of is that the wiring for the AEM was changed by the previous owner but that still doesn't make sense since AEM is plug and play???

Did you use the default setting on the AEM for engine advance? It should be 14.99.

Back about 3 years ago I had a tuner fry my ecu. I was sent another with a new key. I tried using a spare set and the care would do the same thing you described. It would start very quickly and die. Pretty soon after it wouldn't do anything. Come to think about it, they only gave me one key for my car. Anyways yeah, could still be the immobilizer.

I have gone through the factory service manual diagnostics crap for the camshaft sensor circuit error and everything checks out fine..at the end it tells me to drive it to check the pulse from the sensor etc. but the thing is my friends car still won't start...so I can't drive it...it has fuel and great spark. So we checked TDC and the cam sensor to make sure everything was OK with the timing and it all checked out. So is there any other code or anthing else I can put into the xml file that will make it start? Starts on the dang AEM but not stock ECU
