Clutch: Decisions, decisions...

I'm hoping that posting this will help. I've read ALL the other threads regarding this matter but none of their self described driving styles applies to me. Anyways...here goes. I'm looking for a clutch that will:
1. Hold at least 450 awtq...
2. Last at least 1 year...
3. Not require me to refinance my home to pay for it...

I NEVER launch my car nor will I care too. I drive like an old man the majority (85%) of the time unless I'm "in the mood". I ALWAYS baby the car during a break-in period of 1K miles for a clutch & will change the hydrolic fluid every 6 months. What clutch should I buy? Is there anything under $800 (for parts only)? Thanks!

you sound just like me. unless i go for a spirited drive on the backroads i never beat on my car. drive just like and old man, and have nor will i ever launch my car. i would say exedy twin is the best bet, but like u said, need something that doesnt break the bank. act is good, strong pedal feel, but suffers lockout. personally run the clutchmasters stage 3 with fidanza flywheel. dd and all. have had it about a yr and a half now and still grips like brand new. popular among the honda guys but has proven great for me and my evo. got a great deal on it from jsc speed. 580 shipped to my door, retail for around 700 i think. great clutch, def check it out. gl with the purchase!

I too have been searching and searching before pushing the order button on a clutch. I'm in about the same boat as you. I want something a little more heavy duty than stock but I don't want to break the bank with a twin disk. I'm just going to guess that most people on here will say ACT HDSS street disk.

right here for $635 without a flywheel. There's the same kit with a 13 pound flywheel for just under $900.

You can get an Exedy stage 1 organic kit for $500

Anyone else care to chime in? I would love to hear from some ACT owners who have had the opportunity to get some mileage on the car.

stay away from the exedy stage 1 organic disc...it's crap. i put one of those in after my stocker went at around 70k miles. i only got about 50k miles out of it and had lockout issues like crazy. i did a lot of racing on both clutches, and a lot of launching, and the stocker lasted longer. i just swapped to an ACT HDSS and streetlite flywheel and so far it's great. oh, in case you're wondering...yes i have 124k miles on my 06 EVO IX MR lol

check with Jeff at 500whp.com, he's a vendor on this site. He got me the best deal i could find on my setup. tell him OD sent you.

^^ hows drivability with the lighter flywheel? I know its only 1 lbs difference but i was just concerned because I heard it was harder to drive daily.
