Ordered the 250$ S drilled cover from precision. surge characteristics were not changed. I was not happy camper that I just wasted 250$ Not to mention my time , hopes and dreams it would help.

The Tial cover now lives on the car and I can pull from 2000RPM from 5th gear. No comparison between the two covers really.

I added my "laggy" statement in there because there are those who use the cover without getting surge and they think the cover works. Mike responded to that in prime fashion. If Mike were to try standard cover on same turbo he would find his setup doesnt need a ported cover of any type.

We arent all building race cars here. street car manners are important to some. Very important to me. So I will keep trying to help those who will listen.
Do you have any visual differences of the tial comp cover vs the precision comp cover (that didnt work for you) picture wise? Id like to see the visual differences between them both.

the first post in this thread depicts the difference in covers quite clearly. I dont have the typing skills to describe what surge is and how the cover helps to reduce surge, but after you have an understanding on how the ported cover works it is easy to see why the drilled cover will not work.

I guess this is what I wanted to see....I wasnt under the impression tial made compressor covers? Can you please take a pic of your turbo and post up or possibly find a link to a picture?

EDIT: Is this the one your referring too? It looks real similar to an H-cover. I got this directly from tials website.

Fair enough. We've done the same as you on a couple cars and have eliminated the surge with the drilled covers.

That's the nice thing about the H cover for larger displacement engines. You can stick an 88mm comp wheel in that cover and keep it in a relatively compact package.

I just ordered the new Billet 6765, Journal Bearing Turbo in a T4 (Ported Shroud) H-Cover for my RB26 240SX setup, was debating on V-Band exhaust housing options, and will probably end up with the .68 or .81...any feedback? I realize it's not an EVO, but haven't found much information on any other boards about these new billet wheel setups....

This is coming from the Borg Warner S372R with .90 A/R that made 813whp @28 PSI, but was extremely laggy..and I'm trying to prevent this with the next setup...
