My Engine Build w/pics (Drop-In Setup)!!

MY motor IS NOT a Drop-In setup.....Machine World built 2.0 block!!!!

I did a bit of research on these forums, the internet, and locally with some very good engine/performance shops and decided that a drop-in setup would work well with my current evo 8 and HP goals.

My car was in a minor fender bender and at this time I decided that going with a bigger turbo and building the engine to handle the 600whp I'm shooting for would be the way to go. My evo 8 has 10k miles on it and the motor was a perfect candidate for a Manley H-beam/Wiseco 9:1 CR piston setup. I will be posting up in this thread with constant updates on how the motor is running as well as my HP/timeslips as this yr/season progresses.

MojoMotorsports in Amityville, NY did the engine install and MACHINE WORLD did the engine build. We will also be tuning the ETS HTA 35r on stock ecu w/an E85 tune as well as a 93oct. pump gas tune.

Here are some pics I took as the build progressed....

the block/motor was so "green" that all we did was check all the cylinder bores/all clearances and then used a ball hone. All cylinders were rechecked afterwards and we made sure that the clearances were on the "conservative" side as per Mitsu, Wiseco, and Manley

Excellent thread mate!

I am building my motor too next month with similar parts. The same wiseco pistons, h-beam rods but I went with carrillo, cosworth gasket too, ferrea valvetrain (behive), and I will also use a fluidampr damper.

Most probably I will also do an HTA upgrade from my 3065 plus the regular supporting mods...

yes sir! Only snags we ran into is that the wg recirc tube the ETS uses to bolt onto the dp didn't fit and hit/made contact w/the o2 housing. They also forgot to include the oil feed adapter for the oil inlet on the HTA 35r. Adam is going to call them to find out why the recirc tube doesn't fit right.

car is all together and took her out today to do some tuning on wg boost..so far i'm hitting full spool at 4k rpms@15psi with the HTA 35r and a .82 A/R turbine housing. Once I get my Turbosmart dual stage boost controller i'm going to be running 23psi or so on 93oct and 33psi or so on E85...all on stock ecu
