sorry in advance for the lack of info, i am a noob to mitsubishi.

i have a 2003 mitsubishi evo 8. the past 6 months i started noticing a metal clunking/rattling that is very noticeable when accelerating in first gear and when idling (coming from the front driver's side engine area). It sounds like something metal is spinning or hitting against another metal object. i never really noticed it much until i started riding around with my windows down (i cant really hear it if the windows rolled up). it is loud enough though for other people standing around outside can hear it when i drive by. Ive had nothing but issues from this car and im really starting to get discouraged. I had an acura rsx before this and i could practically do anything to it and it would still run strong as ever. any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

sounds bearingish in the gearbox

 

does anyone know what it would take to fix it? Easy/difficult issue?
