so i just got my tranny rebuilt by jacks transmissions at now i finally got it in and done. I took it around the block and i couldnt get it into 5th or reverse. I thought there was a problem with the linkage or my clutch adjustment but nope! i disconnected the linkage and shifted by hand off the tranny and my 5th and reverse is completely locked out. when i push the shift arm in (which is 5th and reverse) it doesnt budge side to side. please tell me they didnt **** up my tranny when they rebuilt it.

 

Sounds like the rail is locked. simplest error I can think of is the detent assembly for that rail may have been installed without the washer. This makes the detent install too close to rail locking it in place. This can be fixed in the car. Find the three detents and make sure they all have their washers under neath them. They are about 1 inch apart. look like bolts with 17mm head.
