Transfer case parts

Anybody know anywhere to pick up just the ring and pinion for the transfer case? It makes sense to just replace the part is broken and not the entire transfer case. I know mistu doesn't sell just the ring and pinion but figured SOMEBODY has to! Any help is appreciated.

Shep had to replace mine which was $1200 extra. Not sure if he sells them separately though...

That's the thing, if shep can get them, they have to come from somewhere. I am just trying to be as cost effective as I can.

shot in the dark, but you can get off the beaten path and have a precision machine shop look into the feasibility of making the pinion gear. I am sure the bearing is not exclusively Getrag. Anyway, just a long shot, but who knows, you may end up breaking the monopoly

If I do go ahead and just pick up a used one, i know this is a stupid question, but is it transmission specific? I have a 6spd, didn't know if the 5spds are the same.

would you recommend them over lets say, turbotrix? ttr has a pretty serious setup for their transmissions and transfercase.... although i have heard rumors that ttr sends their own cars to dogbox when in need of repair or engine rebuilding.

So what do you charge for transfer case rebuild, what parts do you change and will the trasfer case stop whining after your rebuild?

How come? On John Shepherd's webstie they say they can stop the transfer case from whining, but they want $1,499 to rebuild the transfer case.
