Tomei vs. BBK Full vs. FP Red Flow -- Flow Data

So I just read that Tomei rates the new ARMS turbo @ 640 CFM. Interestingly I cannot find flow ratings for the BBK (Blouch) or FP Red. I would think this data must be available and wonder if anyone has found it or has done any independent testing. Thoughts ?

better to rate turbos in lb per minute
stock 9 44lb
FP green 47lb
Tomie 48lb
BBK 51lb
FP red 57lb

some are posted specs some are estimates. 10lb/min is good for 100+whp on a very well setup car on race fuel

How come if the bbk outflows the tomei/green/ix turbos (which respond well to e85/meth/race gas) why is it only recommended for pump gas levels? Wouldn't it just gain from the extra octane like any other small turbo?

I don't think you will find it, as companies like this tend to keep those a secret.

Its not recommended ONLY for pump gas, it (like any turbo) has an efficiency range where they recommend staying under a certain boost level. The BBK they recommend staying at or below 29psi, and I personally run mine at 28.5 on 91 octane + meth. You can make great numbers on pump gas with a BBK so it is considered a great "pump gas turbo" but thta does not mean you must run only pump gas for it.

DJ Brett -- Have you dyno'd your setup yet? If so do you know what you gained over your previous setup ? I really like the BBK data I have seen so far.

So if I wanted to keep Boost Levels at 22 ~ 24 psi, with a built topend, stock bottem end, would I be interested in the BBK for this?

Just doing my research. Thanks in advance.

Absolutely....IMHO this would be the best thing out there in that psi range...

DJ -- I just found your numbers 385 whp @ 4100 feet is amazing....Were the numbers corrected for altitude? I am at sea level running 91 + Meth at sea level and would like to be at ~450whp and am struggling between the red and the bbk full.

Go Red. You will probably start wanting more power which the Red will be able to give you. Might as well go with it so you wont buy a 2nd turbo once you want more. However it really is all about what you want to do with it. If your more of a autox then go bbk...

I want the turbo to be very responsive and only drive on the street. I guess I might autox the car once, but I am an old IMSA driver, so if ever tracked the car it would likely just be at an open track day . What I really want is for the car to be close to a GT2 or M5 in fun factor, but still able to take the kids to school (dad's taxi ). I hear you on the dilemma of wanting more and more power, but I don't want a GT35 type response for my street car. I know there is no single right answer and that is what makes it so hard....
