Anybody hear word of the K&N intake?

I was reading where K&N came out with/or will come out with an intake system which was SUPPOSED to add 15 hp. Any truth to that as I never heard of any intake that adds that much.

They're coming out with an intake but just like every manufacturer..their claims are exaggerated. It is similar to the AEM...short ram style with maf to turbo tube, conical filter (smaller than AEM), and a carbon fiber heat shield

I have it. Pretty cool, I feel a little bit of difference. Sounds similar to a blow-off which I wasn't expecting. The only way to truly tell on performance gain is to get it on the dyno before and after installation.

What do you mean it sounds similar to a blow-off? You have the new K&N with the carbon fiber heat shield and maf to turbo tube? If so, where did you get it and how much was it? I think retail is $300-350

I mean it sounds just like a blow off valve. In my experience with intakes on turbo cars there is a distinct flutter sound the intake produces. I got my kit from japan so it doesn't come with a carbon fiber heat shield. It has a metal heat shield. It cost roughly $220 bucks.

My Dad lives in Japan and I had him order it for me. Actually, I wanted the Apexi kit but they got it mixed up and got me the K and N and I didn't want to send it back and wait for it to come in and have my Dad send it back so I just installed the K and N. I paid roughly $220.00 with the yen rate as I posted above. Installation was easy. I'm pretty sure I'm not talking about the Typhoon intake. Post your pic and I'll tell you whether or not it is the one.

Yeah you paid 100 for a K&N filter..NOT an intake kit. If you're confused on the difference go look at what comes with the AEM kit. It is a maf to turbo aluminum tube (like Cusco, etc), a filter, AND a heat shield (carbon fiber). It is not just an open air element like the RMR, Buschur, etc.

Sorry I don't have a digital camera but it looks almost exactly like the picture in the link that broeli included with the exception that the heat shield that mine comes with is blue colored metal and looks a lot better than the carbon fiber shield. Unfortunately, this kit didn't come with the intake pipe. Just the heat shield and the filter element. lil evil evo, I checked out the link you put out and it isn't the Typhoon.
