I have noticed that If I am pushing the car a little bit that there is black smoke when I shift gears, not much, but enough that I can see it. I have a turbo timer and I always let the car warm up to operating temperature before I push any boost through the engine, do you guys think the smoke is due to the fact that the car runs pig rich and that 91 octane is the highest that is sold at the pump? Thanks in advance for any comments

pig rich str8 from mitsu, we all have this problem STOCk when you go WOT...

 

Eclipses have hte same issue. The works flash gets the ratio closer toe the 14:1 that is perfect. From the factory I have seen various numbers, from 8.5:1 at WOT to 9.5:1. Mitsu is just covering their ***, but that makes you realize the untapped potential in this car straight out of the box, wiht just fuel curve tuning.

what about knock with 91 octane, I dont know much about the subject, but I heard the the STi's have knock problems with 91 octane gas, any comments?
