I plan on upgrading to the TRE 6 speed when it comes out to go with the Red I will be getting. Also, a tranny cooler can't hurt.
over 100k!! I am planning to drive my 6 speed over 100k miles too. where do you drive everyday?

what makes you think the 6 speed can't handle the Red?

Yes, I spoke to TRE about 3 mos. ago. He mentioned his had custom gears on his 6spd for quite some time now and his trying to figure out a way to bring cost down to offer the service.

I don't surge in fifth or sixth with the FP Red and 80mm cover. I run 31psi and E85 FP4r cams. I have not ported the head, intake or manifold yet.

I had about 64k on my 6 speed when I swapped it out for a 5 speed. Not because the 6 speed broke but I got the chance to do an even swap if I did the labor haha. But just to make you feel a little better, My car made 440 on MD wich is roughly 500 whp on DJ, and id say the car has been above 400 whp for atleast half its life. Ontop of that the past 5k miles or so I have discovered No- Lift shifting!!!. The only thing to watch out for is do not slam 5th gear, it puts a ur on the syncro and things between 5th and 6th get a bit sticky. oh yeah changed the tranny fluid once looking for a reason to get a 5 speed haha

Yes, i found a 5spd at a great price and bought it. I haven't done the swap because I haven't had the reason to or an offer like yours. 5th gear is my least used gear..lol I always merge on the autobahn in 4th and take it up high enough that i just go into 6th and cruise.

Thxs for your input..

I know the flaws of the 6spd, dnt need ppl to remind me. I just want to know who out here is enjoying a FP Red on a 6spd. My 6spd feels great @ 17K, stock clutch 340TQ and I say over 50 launches.. and not to mention I drive on the Autobahn for hours at times stuck in 6th gear around 4K doing around 100mph. I changed the fluid every 5K and about the only mod. I done was replace the shifter cable bushings with Buschur Bushings
50 launches on the stock clutch? HOW?

6 speed here 315whp and 320wTQ SAE corrected dynojet.

no problems yet, then again i dont launch much. plus i have a tranny temp sensor and i have never seen it light up.

I'm pretty sure 50 launches on the stock clutch is impossible. Unless your reving to 2k then slipping clutch

im a 6speed, about to do the red setup.. u can see my power below, i just turned 50k miles, 35000 of them are really hard canyon driving, however i dont really see 4th gear in the canyons so the 4th gear death trap is something uknown to me... but my tranny is perfect and i use MIL.SPEC 6speed fluid every 15k miles...

"whoa" What is up with ppl calling out my experience.. I never stated your clutch or anybody else's would. I just said MINE has.. and if you must know its on its way out... only at 17K but why...? When I seen ppl at 60K stock clutch.. IMPOSSIBLE RIGHT!!

Moving along I read back on some good old threads discussing the tranny cooler. Good info on here, if i don't get power hungry I will def. look for means of getting mine

Power is not the issue for the 6sp. Most the abuse is done in the first 3 gears which are wider and stronger than the 5sp. Only two issues are the 5th gear if jammed can spur the shift rails. Overheating 4th is really not a power failure per say (although added power compounds the problem some)...its more of overheating the fluid and the most common gear on a road course. 1/2 of those failures are from running wrong tranny fluid. I say put a red on it and you will be fine.

I have 41k on mine and have been over 350whp for probably 40k of those miles. Granted I rarely ever launch and don't go to the gaystrip but it see's a good amount of weekend fun and autoX/HPDE's. I have a friend who has probably 300+ autoX launches/runs and his is doing awesome. Its about maintenance and who's driving imo. The stock clutch is not that bad...it just can't take repeated abuse. People complain about a weak stock clutch but they probably complain if its too stiff too
