Drifto tell us what happened to your motor!

Some use the ball hone.. others like the old school hone with the springs and scraper thingy. From my ignorant perspective, you would want to deglaze them best you can without hurting your piston to wall clearances. Generally in all my e-learning from reading forums, it seems like a lot of motors have ran well with a simple in situ hone job. But still just like all built motors it's a crap shoot on what you'll get.

I'm sure I haven't added anything to what you already know. Would be good to get some more feedback here.

I blew a head gasket at recent lapping day at a local road course. Boost controller was not adjusted quite enough and when I went out the boost gage had come off the maifold so I had no idea what kind of boost I was running. I logged it on the return lap. Turns out, mid 30psi is too much for 30min. . Engine was/is bone stock. Compression check out great with only a 6psi varience but it was pushing coolant all day, even after correctly adjusting the boost. Pulled the head and sure enough 2 and 3 have been sharing. Figured while I was there I might as well do a quick clean up and drop some forged parts back in. CNC'd head is in the works as well. Gonna see If a can get 550whp out of this little 30R then something bigger will replace it.
