Timeing belt ate me V-belt!!! :(
well.. it happend last night, i was driveing home at low speed and low rpm, then this funny sound came, i thought to my self wtf is that.. well i keept on driveing and the sound increased, and the car sounded like a train, so i pushed my clutch pedal then the sound stopped, i keept on driveing then the sound came again, at that point i switch the igniton off and pulled over to the side, i opened my hood and i saw my v-belt was completely gone, i got the car on a tow truck and got it in my garage, first thing i thougt was engine failure.. so i took the oil pan out and the oil was fine and saw nothing in the oil pan, then i saw the V-belt pully for the crank and there was the v-belt in pieces and i took the cover for the timeing belt of and there i saw the rest of my v-belt, the timeing belt ate my v-belt and the car jumped over time and killed my valves and probebly my cylinder head
has anybody had this experiance.. ?
btw ill take the head of next few days and i will see what happend to the cylinder head..

Yeah, that's what I am wondering too.
About a week ago and at 57,000 miles, I was inspecting my car before making a road trip (now completed) when I noticed the drive belt had lots of pieces of the ribbing missing. Once I pulled it I could see metal in the grooves (the belt apparently contains steel wire like a tire). The manual says change the belt at 30,000 miles, advice I chose to ignore.
