Evo 9 head to Evo 8 block
Yes you can. The only things you will have to worry about is relocating the oil pressure sending unit to the oil pump housing, and the Mivec feed line. The oil pressure sending unit on the Evo VIII's was an 1/8" NPT port on the backside of the block, under about the middle of the intake manifold. This port was converted to an M12x1.25 (If I recall correctly) Banjo style. If you can adapt the 1/8" NPT to a *probably* hose barb, then you can cut the factory Mivec feed line banjo off, and run a rubber hose connector to connect the two. Basically, the difference between the two blocks is that port. 1/8" NPT port vs. a M12x1.25 Banjo port. Adapt one to the other, and you can use any block in any car.
FWIW, I have the opposite of what you are doing, a IX block in a VIII.
What do you wanna do??
(a) Install an evo 8 block in your evo 9
(b) Install a evo 9 mivec head in your evo 8?
(a) is easy block is the same, needs minor modifications to make it work
(b) isn't worth it, needs some wiring as well as a ix ecu.

I remember this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...k-ix-head.html
Took me fricking like 30 mins to find that thread, despite searching the exact title and parts of it many times.
Should explain everything.
