I've thought about this on occasion but there is virtually no room under the hood to do it successfully

I think AMS won the 1000hp engine challenge and they used twin turbo if I'm not mistaken.

Geez, instead of insulting each other answers, why dont we respectfully answer it like we expect in return. David B. came in with his opinionated answer and it helped the OP, would of been a massacre if he didnt step in. As for Sharkbite, I believe AMS was planning to use that set-up but in the end they changed back to a single turbo set-up.

Adam at Devo(which is no longer ) did it ~2005 with twin stock turbos I think it was on Cosmo's old VIII. Don't know much of how it worked out other than that.

AMS "twin" turbo

Here is a thread on the https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/au...rbo-setup.html.

This looks to be more of a compound-like turbo set-up, not a true twin-turbo. Fascinating nonetheless.

"Twin turbo" is usually used to refer to a set-up that uses two parallel turbos of equal size. Although there are some unique variations; specifically the BMW 135/335 comes to mind, which uses two parallel turbos of unequal size.

IIRC, the OEM TT RX-7 and Supra used a sequential turbo set-up where by the engine ran on the smaller turbo only, and at some point in the power delivery the larger turbo then takes over.

A true compound turbo set-up looks like this one for a Cummins diesel:

Another diesel application:

Here is a link to a close-up pic of a compound turbo set-up.

I'd love to see someone try a compound turbo set-up on an EVO. However, every time I suggest this all I hear is, "It won't work!". The fact is, compound turbos are THE latest rage for diesel tuners.

I'm old enough to remember when turbos were only found on diesels. Now they are readily accepted on gas motors. Maybe someday compound turbos will be as well received.

twin turbo evo 9 video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OflCyuXrlh0
copy paste from youtube info:

CPR - Car Planet Racing UK run the world's first successful Twin Turbo'd NON MIVEC! Evo (Karl Jackson's Evo 9 RS) up on their Dyno Dynamics 4 Wheel Rolling Road

CPR's Race Twin Turbo Kit is the World's First successful Twin Turbocharger Kit for the Mitsubishi Evo.

This Evo 9 has been built and mapped entirely by CPR, at their premises in Cheshire, UK.

This car produces 493.2HP at the wheels, around 650hp at the flywheel (using 24% Transmission Loss) and 600lbft at 3800 rpm!

All of this is achieved on 97 PUMP GAS!!!

We have no doubt that on Race Fuel, this setup will produce 750-800hp at flywheel, as this setup is currently been run extremely conservatively on Pump Gas.

WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

Full Boost of 2.0bar is achieved by 3800rpm!, making it an extremely responsive car, with virtually zero turbo-lag.

This is the most responsive setup we have built here at CPR, with response and torque delivery unlike any other conventional single turbo'd Evo. The sheer acceleration of this setup is unbeatable!

Karl Jackson runs this Evo 9 RS in the Harewood Hill Hillsprint Championships, where he is defending his 2007 and 2008 Champion Title again in 2009.

Car Planet Racing offer Mitsubishi Evo owners the CPR Race & Street Twin Turbo Kits.
