Just thought I would share something that may save you some time and grief regarding the lash adjusters, erroneously called lifters (the lifter is the cam roller bearing assembly). If you start to hear a tapping sound, especially after starting your car up cold, and especially after a long downtime or after a rebuild, it may not be the lash adjusters that are chattering away in sync with RPMs. It could very well be the turbo manifold is not bolted on firmly and the manifold gasket is reverbing between the cylinder head and the manifold. The noise will go away as the car warms up, and that is because the metal is expanding and any gaps will close. You may think that the adjusters have bled off any trapped air. It sounds very close to the noise a lash adjuster that needs serviced would make. So, before you go and start ripping the cams out to service the adjusters, check the torques on your turbo manifold, especially if you are using a tubular manifold.
