Red turbo, 80mm w/ 35R blade

Excited to learn about the new Red turbo, 80mm but I got stomp when I heard about new housing has a potential to insert a 35R blade inside. Hmm so this will be capable of 6-700hp bolt on turbo. My dream turbo

Hope FP can chime in ?

I didnt hear anything about shoving a 35r comp wheel in the new housing. From what I was told yesterday on the phone by FP, the new housing is just to stop the compressor surge. Its not really there to give you more HP.

Where did you hear this?

I haven't heard about this but maybe the OP picked it up because some people say "This is the result of stuffing a 35r "sized" wheel on a stock appearing housing" maybe he picked it up from that. But i think the Red Is maxed out at low to mid 600's on a dynojet on an extremely well set-up car.

well if you are considering a standard 35R wheel, it wont work.

the red is a reverse rotation turbo (as are all stock housing turbos).....

as far as flow, a standard RED doesnt seem to flow much less than an off the shelf 3582R.....

cheers

Not sure what thread it was in, but there was a hint that the new compressor housing is cut for the anti surge pots, but that the original casting can be cut to fit a larger than stock inlet compresor wheel. There is no doubt in my mind that FP will stuff a larger compressor wheel in this new housing, maybe even a custom reverse rotation 35R size wheel. Only time will tell.

Fp has a tendancy to release a series of turbos white, green, red, and black. Each being a larger turbo than the last. I have a red but I am drooling over the next installment.

I talked to FP last week about the Evolution of the Red, and it seems that the red has pretty much reached it limit for now. As far as I can tell they have no plans on taking it any further for the time being.

That doesnt mean they cant make a custom reverse rotation 35R style/size blade. All the FP turbos have custom blades anyway.

Keep in mind you don't HAVE to machine a port into it, or machine the port to those exact dimensions in the pic.
