Stock Water Temperature Gauge Repair/Replace
Stock Water Temperature Gauge Repair/Replace
Car: 2003 Evo 8
Howdy.
It appears that my water gauge, the stock unit, in the dash, has gone a little screwy. It has a tendency to spike up to maximum incredibly quickly, like at ~178 degrees Fahrenheit (read from the AEM) and never really settles down; it's either all the way spiked, or laying flat on the ground. No middle area.
I'm going to be adding a new aftermarket water temp gauge, so I can more accurately track it, but was having trouble locating a replacement internal gauge. For the stock unit, are they seperate, removable gauges inside the cluster, or is it basically a "change everything" affair, where the whole assembly (speedo, tach, etc) need changed out? I've never dug into the cluster area.
Thanks for any info!

Your better off leaving the stock gauge as it is and relying on the aftermarket gauge.
Stock gauges are not a good indicator for water temp in modified cars anyhow and cannot be trusted 100%...
