Missing transmission plug?

I just recently did a clutch job on my cousin's car; a IX MR. I didn't notice this hole when I pulled the transmission but noticed it when I just installed it. Does anyone know if something goes there or not?

Thanks, Kevin N E

So it's just a plug right? Or is it a breather?

I wonder how much that'll cost at the dealership.

It looks like the same breather as on the 5 speed trans.

It in fact is, but it is not a breather. I have been mising the same piece on my Evo 8. It is a metal plug of some sort or cap. 2 mitsu dealers I have been to, can not locate it in there systems, or identify it from the schematics as too what part it actually is. But have both verified it is infact there on a stock unit... We walked out to a stock unit on the lot, and looked right at it.

I think you're thinking of the metal freeze plug on the tranny where the TOB shaft slides out of the bell housing. If that is what you need it is a simple freeze plug and the size is in the service manual. I can look it up for you if you can't find it.

Dude you rock. We ordered a freeze plug for it, it came in, but looks to small to fill the hole...
Part number on the mitsu bag that I have says:

Cap C/Head Qty:1
MF665535
Cap, M/T Case Seal

Thanks in advance.
