I have the valve cover off cuz I was installing cams and timing belt and all that jazz for 60k maint on my Evo.
I figured while the valve cover was off to drop my 880's in. Well on the first cyl I couldnt get the injector in and the plastic tip came off into the IM seal. I tried to push the injector in and dropped it then tried to pull the seal out and the tip is now gown.
Two options could have happened:
1. The tip could have went into the IM or into the valve area
2. The tip could have fell out when i was prying on the seal and fell in the engine bay somewhere.

It took be 30min or so to find the injector when it fell, so I dont think finding the tip is gonna happen.

I dont know if i should go nuts and pull the IM off or not to look further for it?
I inspected in the valve area as much as i could. The #1 is at TDC and the valve is closed. I stuck all kinds of tools in there and fished around and feel absolutely nothing. I took off the throttle body and fished stuff down the #1 port and absolutely nothing. I even hooked a Dyson up to a thick vac line that I fished down there in hopes of sucking this thing up and nothing.

Would you guys assume at this point that the thing did not go into the motor if you have dug all around? Diggig into those areas and fishing around and suckage and blowage would have yeilded atleast this thing rattling around or something right?


CLIFFS: Dropped a small piece and dont know if it went into the valve ports or not. Did tons of tests and cannot find it. Stress out , or assume it fell into the engine bay and lost?
