Evo 3, Cracked Ring Lands - Need Pistons

Hi all, i have a Evo III. Engine was blowing oil and filling up my catch can. Found all 4 pistons to be suffering from ring land failure.

Have been doing some research and it seems that a common fix is to just replace them with some Evo 8 or 9 Pistons and Rods.

I am in need of some pretty urgently. If anyone can help me out and source some for me that would be greatly appreciated. New or Used in good condition would be great.

Thanks a lot.

There is a reason the pistons failed. The EVO 8/9 pistons may be a slight upgrade, but you should consider forged pistons if you're planning on making 400hp.

Evo 3 pistons are the weakest **** in the 4g63T lineup. Even the 2g DSM pistons are stronger. The 8/9 pistons are a good budget upgrade for a 3.

you will not be able to drop in 8 pistons. the bores in your block are no longer round. you will be wasting your time.

The bores are fine, cylinders are in good condition.

when ring lands fail the rings are no longer supported and scour the bore. the very fact that all pistons were passing oil is a direct indication of this. once the rings scour the bore the oil rings will no longer be affective. the bores may look smooth and good but they are not round anymore. if they were your oil rings would still be working fine. waste your time if you want. I am trying to give you valuable advice from years of experience from rebuilding dozens of hurt 4g63s.
