Locking out between gears..

Ive tried searching a bit, but not enough i guess. So, when i try quick shifts from 3rd into 4th, at 7000rpm it doesnt get in gear, kinda grinds?? if i shift it at about 5-6k rpm it goes in ok. What the heck, ever since i took it in mitsu dealer for the 30k service ive noticed it. You guys think its the tranny fluid? would fluid cause this? Tia

What kinda clutch are you running?

Have you adjusted it.

Normally just a fluid change won't cause an issue like that.

By the way on this forum you can just search for lockout and it will bring up thousands of threads on it.

Even EE has some i'm sure it's common.

Am not %100 sure it was dealers fault. Idk, rather not deal with them, they dont even have a master tech. I could of done the fluids myself, like everything else on car.. Anyhow, thanks for the link

Pat, i appriciate your offer your deserve 1st place, and yes am from monterey area, if closer id definately swing by.. If its as simple as the link above, it should be no problem. I just have to turn the rod counter clockwise to "pull out" a bit right? If there are other pics, or other method of adjusting, id love to see or read about it. Thanks

My dealer replaced my 5th gear syncro. If you car is grinding, no amount of fluid is going to fix it. Only replacing the synchro will fix the problem. Now, if the clutch is poorly adjust, you may be able to fix the problem.

Good luck.

x2 adjust the clutch, still have issues, a syncro issue, certainly because of the high RPM's

get a gear wrench you need a smaller wrench. Loosen up the small nut then you can turn the rod with your hand

Evomoto says that the flat spot on the rod is for an 8mm wrench. Well, on my 05 GSR, 8mm was too big. I ended up using a 1/4" wrench. Even then I didn't have enough room to "swing" the wrench, so I used small needle nose pliers. I was then able to turn it with my fingers.

I'm having high shift effort into 2nd and 4th. I adjusted the clutch and it helped very little. I'm installing my Buschur Shifter Bushings today and I have a BLOX front motor mount to put in too.

Although if it's grinding, espeically bad, it's more than likley a synchro issue. If it only grinds from time to time, it could still possible be a sychro issue OR, no offense, but it could be you.
