Need help!!!! Fried ecu????

I was driving down the freeway and suddenly she shut off on me, I had to coast off. She will crank but not start. I also lost all communication with the ECU, the SES light wont even turn for a split second when the key is in the on position. I'm thinking this means my ECU is done, is this an accurate assessment? If not what else should I try? The plugs look about how they should for a 30K mile car and I'm getting fuel. Any help would be appreciated, also if the ECU is done what it required to replace it? Just plug in new ECU and throw in new immobilizer code? If the ECU is done for would it be cheaper to go standalone? I need her running ASAP.

Start checking the simple things first. Take a look at your fuses and relays and make sure nothing is blown.

I checked the fuses but i will definately check them again

I'm under the impression that the immobilizer would not allow me to just plug in a different ECU, but would plugging my ECU into a friends car work for testing. I'm thinking the car wouldnt start but I should at least be able to communicate with the ECU if its in working condition correct?

ok this is most likely your problem then...go under your hood check the #8 fuse with the lil engine symbol. if that is blown go to your rear o2 and inspect it most likely the wire shaved away and was hitting your chassis thus grounding out your car blowing that fuse tape it up good with electrical tape i had the same problem

OK thanks I'll definately check this. I'm open to more suggestions as well and i'll get a list going. I'm in Houston for work and this is my only mode of transportation as well as the way i have to get home so i'll check anything and everything till its back up and running.

Check your fuses this happened to me waste gate actuator arm came across and grounded out o2 sensor. Blew the ecu fuse and car shut off wouldnt fire. Had to find a shorter o2 sensor and replace fuse. Good luck really doubt its the ecu.

OK well thanks I'm starting to feel better. I know that the DSM ECU's had a fishy smell when they went bad is that the same with us? If its not the ECU I hope its the fuse cuz if they are both good I don't know where to take her or what else to try.

Dont feel stupid these things happen to all of us that is how we learn and after you get it all figured out you will know how to diagnose this problem right. If it happens again you will know what to look for, part of modding things is the learning curve that goes a long with it. You can't know everything before you try it dont give up keep learning

Well I checked and rechecked the fuses and you were right blown fuse, thanx for the help I really appreciate it. I'm going to check the o2 to see if it ground up against the body I just had to go out and celebrate when the evo started up and decided to mess with her later lol. So today I'll check that and continue the troubleshooting for her original issue of wastegate boost cool!!!!
