Wastegate size

Short and sweet...Does having a bigger wastegate then what you need affect performance?

short and sweet:

bigger gate is more known to allow you to hold lower boost levels
Smaller gate can achieve high boost levels fine

Turbo size, wastegate placement ect can have affects on this too, but bigger is not always better in this case.

tialsport can correct me if Im wrong, but I actually got that info from them at one point in the last 10-12 years or so along with other sources

The ONLY reason you would need a BIG wastegate on a high hp setup, is to be able to control it at LOWER boost levels. A small wastegate will hold high hp just fine. Of course this doesnt apply to all, this is just a general statement. Consider this, a turbosmart 38mm WILL OUTFLOW a tial 44m.
