It's a PITA and it has fought many of us to the brutal end. I used a long screwdriver with a slight twisting motion. Another option is to take off the flywheel bolts through the access hole

This worked for me. wedge the screwdriver in between the wedge collar and the TOB. Then push the fork towards the driverside..Then twist the screwdriver to pry them apart then you can push the fork back towards the passenger side. I had to give mine a solid whack with a hammer. Actually had a buddy do it.

FYI once its released don't do the bone head thing i did. when I was wiggling the trans around I grabbed the fork and popped the damn thing back in place.

i figured the flywheel bolts were my next viable option, ill try moving the clutch forks first.

You have to insert the large flat head screwdriver behind the spring plate. I found it is easiest to see if you take a flashlight and shine it through the top hole, then work with the screw driver from the bottom hole.

Once you have the screwdriver behind the spring plate, pull the clutch fork slightly. This will remove the pressure from the lock ring. Then simply twish the screwdriver. Everything should pop out of place.

Once you do it for the first time.....you will master it.

NOTE: sometimes the locking ring can be stubborn. You may have to insert the screwdriver on two sides to get it to pop loose. Do one side, then the other.

FYI the collar only moves a little bit. I had released mine pretty quick and didn't think I had gotten it. I moved the fork and it snapped back. My issue was removing the shaft as my slide hammer could have used a heavier weight. Just take your time and don't force it.

trannys off!

so i got it off about 2 hours ago. it came off out of nowhere like you guys said. heres how i did it.

Being that i am a loser and have no friends, I needed something to keep the clutch for in "position A" as described here: http://www.evomoto.com/tech_articles..._article_id=27

so i zip tied a wrench such that it restrained the clutch fork. kind of ghetto, but what ever works right.

then i used a medium sized pry bar to loosen it through the clutch fork hole, as well as the service hole. once i heard the pop, i moved te fork to position b, and all that was left to do is finnagle the engine out of the tranny
