Are there any idents on your pistons? That would tell you if the belt jumped and broke the valves off. That or valve float could have caused them to explode off possibly.

Well, if you haven't figured it out, next time (I hope there isn't a next time) drain the coolant before pulling the head. Also, that coolant that is sitting on the pistons is headed for the pan so you should get the pan drain plug out too.

Got luck with the repair.

With the coolant out of the cylinders, put some clean oil in each cylinder and turn the crankchaft a few times by hand. You don't want the bores to get rusty.

Negative, the oil line is on the head. Stick with 8. by the time youre done converting you could have a stage 2 head.

I bet with the timing jumped...ALOT. too bad. i bet you smashed them pistont really bad also.... Thats a engine build... im sorry .

If you removed the belt, then the belt (most likely) wasn't the issue. I doubt the timing was off the whole time cause it would have failed a lot sooner. I'm betting on a failed timing belt tensioner. As far as the bolt backing out of the flywheel. Install error.

As long as the head isn't cracked, it may be fixable. You'd be surprised at what can be fixed.
I've seen heads with gouges in them, trashed seats, messed up guides, you name it. Repaired.

I can not believe it broke all the valves and the head is fine! It usually beats up the chamber pretty good. You have luck on your side!
