what ever happened to top mount turbo kit

what ever happened to top mount turbo kit

when i had my old evo i know there was a big hype on top mount turbo kits.. what happened to these?? did they not produce good numbers? when i got rid of my evo i never reallly followed up on evo discussion...

They are still out there. I've seen the ISP top mount, Forced Air Incution's crazy setup, I think Peakboost has a top mount, more I can't think of.

Forward facing is the hype now.

More weight for higher than center of gravity? More heat to deal with when you open up the hood. I don't know. :}

twin turbo would be sickkkkk but boost lag like crazy... maybe a supercharger turbo set up...supercharger will help boost the turbo..hmmmm

AMS was already working on a twin turbo set up with if i remember correctly had a 28r spooling a 42r for the the top car challege engine build...they couldnt get the bugs worked out on time and ditched it...maybe we'll see somthing like that.

A gent named Kevin Jewer used a compound setup on his RWD 1G drag car. This is the same style the AMS had been working with but implemented like the diesels use it.

sounds sick...i know AMS didnt come put with the idea just what i could think of concerning an evo. maybe english racing will come out with the next big thing? always been a fan or your work.

yeah, tt has been out for a while... and someone up top said boost lag would be crazy. well honestly boost lag would be taken care of due to the smaller turbo kickin in the larger of the two. BMW has been doing it on their race cars for a while and of course their new production model does the job.. There's pretty much no lag...
