timing(TDC) question

Im probably missing something really obvious, but how do you set the crank at TDC? I dont see a notch or marhk on the outercrank gear. The cam gears are easy to figure out. In the manual it shows a notch, but I dont see it on the outer crankshaft gear. after setting the smaller belt, is it considered set already at TDC? HELP

What cylinder are you trying to get to TDC?

The notch on the crankshaft in the picture could be the keyway the pulley slides on?

You need to remove the accessory belt to see the marking on the crank. Also should do a couple turns to get it to TDC too.

you dont need to take the belt off, just get a flashlight and look towards the top of the crank pulley on the front cover there is a marking there that should align with a mark on the crank pulley

-take a ~20cm stick
-remove spark plug
-put stick to cylinder
-rotate engine so that you see when the stick is out most.
-rotate forward so that stick drop ~1 inch, mark that place
-rotate backwards so that stick has dropped excatly same level and mark
-TDC is in the middle of those two points
