Evos: How much oil are you using?

I've been checking my oil about every 200 miles since I picked up my Evo. I just turned over 1,900 miles. I topped off my oil to get an idea of consumption. The result: 8 ounces (1/4 quart) in 1900 miles. Not too bad since it's barely broken in.

How much is everyone else using?

I used an aggressive break in, and use little to no oil between 3000+ mile oil changes. I'm always in the throttle, averaging 17-18 mpg. However, I seem to be the exception, and not the rule.

I checked twice, and it didn't change at all before my first oil change.

I use 1/8 a quart between every oil change (2000 miles)

I've been raping my EVO since 1000 miles.

First oil change at 500. Im guessing I should have done Dino oil at that time... but I just put in Amsoil 10w30, which is what I've been running since.

Some members eat a quart between oil changes and the STealerships tell them thats normal. A quart is NOT. Anything below a half quart is substantial. An engine should use oil, just not a quart between oil changes.

Do a search, I started a thread on this a while ago...

make sure and check ur oil levels regularly.
depending on the driving, evos are known to drink oil.So don't be worried if u have to top it up every so often.
I sometimes have to top up mine @ least every 2 weeks

I seem to be going through roughly a half quart every 1000-1500 miles. Car has about 9k on it and was broken according to guidelines, more or less...

I rode tripped mine. Then I tracked for an entire weekend. Still not a drop of oil.

Not to point out the obvious, but this is a turbo car that will push oil out the breather on the valve cover, which is vented back into the intake. So you could be losing oil that way if you are on it hard all of the time - instead of burning it. I don't lose any oil in 3000 miles and I was easily on it for the first 600 miles. Also, if you are not using Mobil 1 and are losing oil, I would try using Mobil 1 and see what happens.
