Turbo with 91 octane

I have a 9 currently running 91 + Meth/H2O and love the response and power. My initial plan was to get a bigger turbo and still run 91 + Meth/H2O, but problems finding Meth are pushing me back to straight 91 octane.

So with just 91 octane, which turbos offer the best response, area under the curve, and peak hp? Should I just keep the stock 9 and go back to my standard 91 tune ? Thanks in advance...

The BBK and HTA Green were both designed to be great pump gas turbos.

Agreed...I guess my question is will the BBK or HTA Green really show big gains over the stock turbo if you are only able to run straight 91 ?

I believe there are one or two guys in the bay area running BBK's on 91 (or with 91 tunes in case they can't find E85). Haven't seen any HTA Green's though. Anyways, they seem to be making a about 25-30whp more than stock IX turbos.

My FP Red made 370hp at 22psi on 91 octane with a track minded tune...

you can easily see 400+hp in a daily driver set-up...

Go Green! If you have any questions about the turbo just drop me a PM. Won't regret this choice.

Thanks for the info, O-Town! Are you currently running the Red on your T.A. Evo? If so, are you completely satisfied with the turbo´s performance on the longer circuits? Thanks!

O-Town, does your race sanctioning body limit you to 91 octane for track use? Or is the low octane pump gas a personal choice? How much boost are you track-tuned for on 91 octane gas, anyway?

Redline Time Attack allows the use of unleaded race gas, which maxes out to VP MS109... leaded fuel is not allowed...

I daily drive my car and use the pump gas map to get use to the lines on a track. Once its race day I then flip a switch to run my race gas map.. people dont know what hit 'em...

This is just my advice, keep the methanol /water kit and purchase the 100 denatured alcohol from ACE Hardware. I believe I opened a post like 4 years ago about being able to get Alcohol from Ace Hardware in 5 galon black metal drums. I also get a Military disccount and I get the 5 galons for around $38. Prices went up a whole lot, methanol use to be $2.40 and went opass the $5 mark for a galon.

You can always just retune your car for destilled water (also from Ace hardware) and it would be way cheaper. I am just trying to help you out. I went to the Ace hardware website and they have hundreds of stores in Cali.

I am in the same predicament, I am running the 3 worst conditions you can ever run on a Evo:

Altitude 3000ft
91oct gas
heat in the summers(110-115 degrees)

Best of luck to you.

locations for you to buy alcohol/destilled water:
