After stroking my Engine
well I had a 50 trim turbo on my AMS 2.3 stroker and managed 500 whp with 470 ft lbs at 30lbs of boost and my car did not fall off....
if you don't wanna buy a complete kit, go with an FP black....
wanna complete kit, go with a twin scroll 35R
That still does not seem right to me though, your car should not be falling off at 5500 rpms, even with a green.

guys, that still doesn't make sense to me though, why go larger than a 35R on a 2.3.... anything bigger than that and your power band isn't really going to be that fat...
Something still seems wrong with his current setup
im suprised that i am the only one that thinks that....
Do you really think that a green on 24lbs of boost should be falling off at 5500 rpms?! That makes zero sense to me
i would log it and send to a tuner to have them look at it

Before you just jump to a bigger turbo. Are you happy with the low and mid with the green? if you are try increasing the boost to 28 psi and have a retune..you are running it a little low on the boost. Have your tune finalized in 4th gear not 3rd. Just because your not getting any knock in 3rd does not mean the 4th is clean. As stated before you will max out the green faster with the stroker but 5k rpm is too soon I run the bbk full and it pulls to 7k. Yes its a little bigger but not a whole lot.
Now to answer your FP red question. Yes that will give you way better top end than the green and my BBK full. You will not loose much spool from the green to the red espacally on a stroker. Hope that helps a little.
**did you do a boost leak check? check that too to make sure your not loosing pressure A friend had a leak in the turbo outlet pipe and it felt real flat over a certain rpm also**

Stock frame turbo's taper badly on 2.3L strokers...
Even the T3 .78 TwinScrolls are limited after 7000rpm, I had two of them - spool is quick but they do make less peak power than on the 2L...
HTA 3582 or PTE 3562 are great turbo's for a 2.3L secret is in the Hot Side!

I still vote, get than thing checked over and look at the log. Check for boost leaks as previously stated.
A green even with a stock turbo should not fall flat at 5k on a 2.3....
If you are set on a turbo / turbo kit
I still would recommend the
FP black for a stock framed turbo
Twin Scroll 35R

wow am amazed with the fast responses from all of you guys and its highly appreciated!!
by the way the power loss doesn't happen all the time but most of the time it does.
my tune was done on 4th gear pulls just to make sure all is fine.
sadly i cant take any log because the only software that can access my ECU is ECUTEK.
how hard can i push my green? how much boost?
i did a boost leak test and had my TB gasket failing other than that everything else is fine!
is it possible that my actuator is failing?

If I were you, instead of putting all the money in a turbo kit is make the following changes:
up the boost to about 26-27 lbs
change the cams to GSC1's or 2's or kelfords
Add a Sheet Metal intake manifold such as a AMS VSR / AMS VSR F1 / Magnus / Buschur Intake Manifold ( or others )
Think about getting your head ported - Or add a CNC'd head
With those changes your car will make and be able to hold more power up to redline, your boost is alittle low and should be able to safely run 26-27 lbs.
The sheet metal intake will add 100- 200 rpms of spool up but will make a huge amount of power in the mid to top end
My AMS VSR Intake added close to 40-50 whp in the mid to top end of my setup.
and the bigger cams will also shift the power to the right a bit, I made good power on the 272's but there was more on the table with GSC's / Kelfordst....
Those are my thoughts, keep the torque, add to the torque just make a few small changes in your setup and have fun!

im just saying, my setup with 272's had more on the table if I was to change, you can keep the 272's as I made good power with them. keep them for now but people have gained some nice power from switching. I never switched, I just left my 272's in the car.
I would not go with a Skunk 2 Manifold - not proven in the evo world ( stick with biggers company that has been tried and true)
I would really try to pick up a AMS VSR - try to find a used one if a new one is not in your budget...
I used the stock throttle body and it was fine i just gained power every in the mid to top end... you can go with an upgraded TB at the same time if you would likel
So to try and fix things a bit
up the boost a few lbs as long as the tune is still safe
add a sheet metal intake to help gain some mid to top end... because of the stroker, you will not notice the delay in spool up...
If adding those two things does not provide an increase that you are acceptable with, and after fixing your gasket, then you can look at a FP Black and that will solve your issues..

thanks for your feedbacks 2003lancerevo8!
i forgot to mention that i had the leak fixed before the tune :P
will start working on it asap!
by the way if i plan on going for a 35r turbo kit u think ill need bigger injectors than the 780's?

Yes you will most likley need them..however depending on what country you are in. Are you at a high elevation? Me for example I'm at about 5000ft. I don't need as big of an injector as someone at sea level
