The K1 crank came without the keying mechanism. It's just a rectangular indentation on the crank. Does the crank bolt and washer hold the crank pulley in place or does the keying mechanism? Is it possible to remove the key on the stock crank and use it with the K1 crank?

 

The key is very critical.

Remove the key from the stock crank or just buy a new one from the dealer.
