Question 3" high flow cat and a CEL to go along with it.

I have a question that someone here may be able to answer. I just installed a RnR O2 eliminator downpipe (it is bad ***, if you are looking for a downpipe then take a look at it, very slick), a 3" catco cat that I bought through RnR, and a 3" cat back system on my car last Thursday. Well, now I am getting a CEL about every 400 miles. The whole reason behind the cat was to stay legal and not have a CEL, I have only had the car about two months and I do not want that damn light on! I have not touched the air/fuel yet, would this help? My exhaust guy said that the Catco 3" model ending in 006 is not OBD II compliant, does anyone know of a 3" cat that is or do I have to go and get the little plug that fools the cars computer into thinking that the cat is doing its job? Has anyone else had the same happen? Hopefully someone will know what to do as I hate having a brand new car with a CEL on!
Thanks

I've always used CarSound cats... no lights... then again I have not used one on the Evo yet. Some people had problems with the blocks separating from the cat body... it was less of an issue than people here burning up clutches. I (and most vendors) think the user was running too lean and over heating them. In the end I never had a failure, but I ran a little richer than most for safety...

The cat I am using is a Random Technologies 3". No CEL, good power. I have had the cat now for about six months.

I think the Buschur cat is a Catco product.. Works fine for me with No CEL (Full turbo back exhaust from buschur) I think part of it may be the location of the rear O2 sensor in relationship to the output of the Cat..

Make sure the rear o2 sensor wasn't damaged when it was transferred.. The Buschur exhaust with a Cat should not give you a CEL.. It never has with mine.. Check to make sure your connection is secure too.. Who knows, may have missed something simple.

Do you have any other mods to the car besides the TB exhaust?

I'm using the UR 3' cat and its kicking ***. No cell more power

BTW I had a carsound on my ITR and it started an internal rattle with only 500 miles on it. I don't recommed carsound they are peices of ****. It was a quick waste of 160 dollars. Random is a good choice but last time I checked they were 300+ (around 315) for the 3 inch. I think I'll go with the 150 dollar one from UR without a cell.

MalibuJack, what is the distance from the widest part of the cat right where it starts to neck down, the end of the honeycomb in the cat, to the o2 sensor on your car?

You must have been in the latter group... I never had a problem with my SMSP CarSound in my ITR (or my others for that matter)... spending a 1/4 of its life airbourne, you'd think mine would have failed before any other. That car saw more action than half of the Evos ever produced... damn I should have kept that car

Mine is comming on too, at first it took about 75miles to come on, then after I reset ECU, it only takes about 17 to trigger it. I read somewhere that there was a fix...........im for it.

Well, I found a solution with mine. I sent my ECU to Al for a stage rev reflash which leaned the car out and changed the timing up some. About 30 miles after I put the ECU back in, the CEL disappeared. I guess with so much crap was coming out of the back above 5000 rpm it was showing too much pollution for the cat to keep up with. Now that it is not spewing rich gasses out the back the cat can keep up now. Kick ***.
