Some connecting rod tech. I have a new favorite rod.

I have been building this 4g63 platform for 12 years now. I live in a budget oriented area where results end up less than desired. IE lots of failed built motors. This has been good for me as I get to see the insides of many built engines. I have gained much knowledge on what should and shouldnt be done when building an engine. Something I have been seeing with aftermarket rods that I dont like. Doesnt matter who makes the rod they all use same material for the floating wrist pin bushing. What I see with used rods is the pin fit becomes loose very quickly. Rods with just 2000 miles on them will need to be rebushed from a builders stand point. the fit of pin should be less than .0005. what I see with just 2000 miles is .002. very alarming if you ask me. Seeing this really bothered me. I figured there were two solutions. eliminate the bushing like the factory does. make it press fit. Or make forced fed oiling like every other bearing in the engine. This would mean the rod would need to be rifle drilled so oil pressure from rod bearing could reach it. Of the rods I had in stock the only one that was thick enough to drill 1/8 hole and still have enough meat on both sides was the manley I beam. I was considering having this done on my next engine. Then I was on flatlander racing site checking stock of cranks and rods and I noticed pauter rods offer just such a service for their rods. its a 220$ option for an already pricey rod. but from what I have seen I want it.

im sure im gonna get flamed here, but coming from the subaru world and now coming over here i noticed that pauters are the only high end rods i have seen break on a consistent basis, and they are nowhere near the top of the popularity list. just my 2 cents.
