Mini Battery.

I searched and searched this topic so I now have to turn to you guys for some input.
I want to get ride of my huge optima battery to install short route uicp, I have looked into battery relocation kits but all the threads are few years old. I was considering a mini battery kit but I hear negative things about them especially if not DD in the cold New Jersey weather. If you run a relocation kit let me know how you like it.

Thanks
Vin.

If you are planning a battery location, live in the cold, and do not DD...a mini battery is a bad idea. Keep the Optima and relocate it to the trunk.

Most mini battery out there are 220CCA, I chose to use DEKA when I had to replace mine after 5yrs. Night and day difference.

for about 3lbs more in weight penalty you get 300CCA. Absolutely worth it.

relocate the big battery in your trunk, better for winter and a lot cheaper than those mini batteries.

Check out STM's solution.

Only thing it is missing is a tray to mount the battery to in the trunk. They're less than 10 bucks at an auto parts store. I put my oem battery in the trunk and love it. Out of the way, and only takes about an hour to do.

If you have garage to park the car overnight and your car is DD. no problems, even thru cold weather, I thought about getting my battery relocated, But i dont want that in my truck and rune big wire thru the car. you will end up spending same money to relocated battery to the trunk than getting mini.

i vote for AMS or Buschur kit.

how is it more expensive??? a used mini battery kit runs for around $200 and a relocation kit is only $80.

The Buschur mini battery kit is $280.
AMS $299

STM relocation kit is $76 + $10 for the tray= $86. If my math is correct I don't think that is anywhere near the same cost.

I just put my own relocation kit together. Cost me about $45 without the tray. Ebay has some nice looking Optima trays CNC'ed out of aluminum.

Since you already have an optima, relocate it to the trunk.

+1 on the relocation. You can go to a welding store and get some 4AWG cable to run to the engine bay, terminals from your local parts store, and a 100AMP breaker, distribution block and your all set.
