Can anyone talk to the difference between using heavy duty shockproof vs normal redline 75W 90 gear oil.

I'm about to change out the fluids for this year. I've used castrol 75W 90 gear oil in the past, but looking to go redline this year.

Seems like suggestions are going all over the place. After reading this thread, one wouldn't know exactly who to go to. BUT I do understand that everyone is running either:
-Diaqueen OEM,
-Redline 75-90
-Redline Heavy ShockProof in TC & Rear diff
-AMS oil 75-90 severe gear oil

Minority:
-Royal purple max gear.

Most say stick to stock Diaqueen (very expensive) for stockish HP and Readline shockproof for either stock or high hp.

As I am at the 30k mile mark, I am probably leaning with Redline heavy shockproof for both transfer case and rear diff. Any last suggestions that would help the crowd?

thats if you buy the full gallon...

they allow you to bring empty containers and buy it by the quart...it should be around 20 or so for a quart...its pricey but you only need i think 2 quarts...

i just went to walmart and bought a cheap 1gallon container and had mitsu fill it up a little more than half way...

hope this helps.

For an evo 8 transmission fluid change, is it better to get Redline MTL GL-4 or 75w 90 GL-5?
Please input your advice.

I run redline heavy shockproof in the TC (wavetrac diff) and rear diff (carbonetics 1.5) and lightweight shockproof in the transmission (shep street/strip). This is pretty much a race only car that does hillclimbs and track days. My IX makes north of 600whp when the boost is turned up.

Do you have to add any lsd additive in the rear diff? i bought redline fluids for my car but havent done the rear diff yet cause im not sure if u need an additive for lsd.

I bought a little bottle of the additive a while back but never used it. On my car I want the lockup to be very aggressive since I'm racing on loose surfaces like dirt and ice. I *think* the additive can be used to lower the viscous nature of the fluid in there to 'tune' or soften the diff a bit...but don't quote me on that.
