Upgraded Valvetrain

Hey guys just wanted to know if u upgrade you valve springs depending on desired RPM or type of camshafts? I have seem some people with aftermarket cams with stock springs others with single uprated springs and then some with the double spring set-up. What is the deciding factor?

You need to look at both when selecting springs. different cams have larger and smaller lift and with that you need different springs. I Have an Evo 9 and am running Supertech springs retainers: duals, titanium, etc with 280/272 cams. General rule is the larger the cams the more you are going to need springs and what. But also check the manufacturers of the cams and see if they say you should or should not do spring and retainers. Stock blocks will rev to 8000 if you so desire, but long time use like this will wear a little at a time. I have blown a motor once and built one and I would say I love the guarantee of having it all built. Its a stroker and I norm rev to 7500 but I know if I cant shift as fast as it revs and I miss it for a split second I am not going to go boom.
