atp uses a sand type casting which sucks. its not as clean as garrett type castings. thats why i thought of extrude hone. but then figured to also inquire about the compressor side too

atp casts the 1.06 twinscroll 35r housings, but the 40r ones are garrett made as far as i know. oh, nevermind. i thought you had a 40r, you have the 35r. duh! i actually was going to go that route and bought the atp housing, then i got a good deal on a trade for a 40r. yeah, your kinda stuck with the atp housing. when you get a chance take a pic of the porting that was done.

Is this a new housing that they recently released or is this one of the old tractor housings that a couple people were able to get and modify for the gt35?

here is a pic. as you can see the ATP housing sucks. Extrude hone proses would do great if it works on turbine housings.

there is no gaskets. what is a down side is my manifold uses a garrett t4 divided flange mated to this atp thing. atp and garrett are both differnet flanges.

I had the same issue porting my IX housing, but when you get down deep, all you are really doing is smoothing the surface. You really aren't removing any material.

That's the main difference between porting and extrude hone. It removes material way down in places you can't even see and the places that you can see but just smooth out, it takes out material there too.

If I were going to send in a piece for extrude honing, I'd probably port what I could reach first before sending it off. Either that or maybe after getting it back so you don't make anything too thin before they extrude hone it. Either way, I'd plan on doing additional porting. You can get a surface just as smooth with 150 grit rolls and then the a cross-buff.

So did you get any prices back?

yea i had ported what they could. i wanted the extrude hone for like you said. to smooth out the surface where we cant reach. this will open it up some. very little but its something. which is better then nothing on these divided housings.
