I thought less exhaust gas turbulence equaled faster spool and flow? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm honestly curious.

An O2 dump shouldn't really help much with rate of spool. Or, should it?

From my perspective, an O2 dump is irrelevant when the flapper valve is shut closed on its seat. Since the fastest rate of spool is achieved with the flapper valve closed, then the rate of spool shouldn't be much dependant on whether the turbo is equipped with a conventional O2 housing, or an O2 dump.

There are several other factors which are more directly related to spoolup. As a practical matter, the dump tube enters the picture only once the flapper valve has opened. Fastest turbo spool can only be achieved with the flapper valve shut. Or am I way off?

I have one they do 2 things. One if the turbo exhaust area is larger, like in my case 40% larger then OEM it will make more power plain and simple. Buschur himself tested a cheapo ebay unit for 15WHP gain. The Dump itself has better boost control as it isn't running into the exhaust stream, I GUESS it makes your exhaust more efficient as less is being dumped through it. The sound alone I love.

They add power after other mods mostly a turbo back. The larger area for the exhaust makes the difference.

Its purpose is to be obnoxiously loud at WOT, and with the correct flange (shearer/jmfab) and dump tube size can be useful when set up properly

Yeah that makes sense it wouldn't help spool because the valve is closed, but won't it help under full boost when its open?
