any tuners want to shed some light on this?

David,

You think that I should go with the 2.3L??? I thought that after talking with you last time, the 2.1L would be my best bet?!? I'm wanting a low 10 second street car. I plan on keeping the stock frame turbo and maybe upgraging to the Black, if I don't get there on the Red. I will be running E-70 - E-98 only!

Also some interesting opinions on fuel and compression in this thread, not that I agree with them. haha

With the five speed you should be good for at least a high 9 if you run the 2.3, the gearing and 8500 should be ok. Any stock frame turbo is worthless above 9k usually.

Well if we spoke in depth about this build already there must be a reason I told you to go with the 2.1, which makes me wonder why you started a thread asking if I gave you the answer already...........

High 9's is usually 145 mph which is over 8500 on the stock gears.

BTW, I am unsubscribing to this thread now, so I won't be back to it. Seems I've given my answers already. Too many threads to keep up on.

9:1 to 10:1 and up to 29-30psi on 92.

I am more toward low compression and more boost to make my power if its going to be on gas. Even on E98 we have seen light at the end of the tunnel when trying 11:1 and 40+psi. I wouldnt suggest it for a daily, a racecar is one thing, but a 10:1 2.1 is on my to do list at some point. I have already been around enough 11:1 2.0Ls enough to know I dont want one as a daily.

I am currently switching to a LR2.4 to have some more street fun since my car is neither drag raced or open road raced as I originally envisioned it. 20 min lapping and some sane RPM and I think the 2.4 will be fine

Not sure on which engine displacement is right for you, but I run my hillclimb car on E85 and its a 2.3L AMS 10.0:1 and we've run it as high as 33-35psi with a FP HTA35R. One of the advantages of a higher RPM capable motor is that once you do get the turbo spooled, you'll be able to hang in that gear longer. Between Denver and the startline of PPIHC (9400 ft), I lose another 300-500rpm in spool time if memory serves.

If you're going to be pushing a turbo really hard at this elevation, might be worth investing in a turbo RPM gauge to make sure you're still within its operating range.

Man I love my 12.5:1 compression 2.3l, at 21psi it's nuts... havent boosted higher yet due to an auto conversion. I can't keep a manual trans in the car.

What fuel are you using on 12.5:1?

Is the piston custom or an N/A piston?

I'm going to take a guess here.

yes sir you hit the nail right on the head! The car runs dual fuel systems. 93 octane in vacc and e99 activates in positive pressure via 2500cc moran motorsports injectors.
