Who's running a 2.4L Mivec???
Who's running a 2.4L Mivec???
I just can't make up my mind on what motor to build. I was set on a 2.0L for Drag, and then a 2.1L, then a 2.2L 4g64, now back to the 2.1L, but now, I'm not sure once again.
I know that I want 10.0:1 compression on the build. At this point, I want my car to be a low 10 second drag/daily driver. And Buschur said, go with a 2.3L on my last thread, so I'm lost at this point.
I plan on staying with the stock frame turbo, currently I have the Red and might upgrade to the Black if I can't get into the low ten's with the Red.
I know that the stock frame turbos are at peak HP under 8k RPM's, so what about a 2.4L Mivec?!?
I want the most reliable engine out there! I put 26k on my car last year and can't tell you how many time I drag raced. The stock motor has held up great! But I want more WHP!

I'm running a 4g64/MIVEC/FPBlack combo (2.4) and couldn't be happier with the setup.
26psi @ 4000 rpm and over 500whp on 92 Octane pump gas simply can't be argued with! This combination Kicks ***! I have the rev limiter set at 8000, but honestly, the power starts to drop off and I shift well before 8k.
That being said, I built my car for Daily Driver duties and will rarely (if ever) track the car. I do have a track wh0re; a 722hp 1g DSM that I have fun in.
I have one wish for my build, and that is I should have went with a higher compression piston, I think 10:1 would have been a perfect setup for my needs.

I agree with Johnny. My car is going to the shop on Monday to get a MIVEC 2.4L. My motor is a bit different than Johnny's however. I'm going 10:1 like Johnny stated and I'm doing a long rod 2.4L. We are putting a 156mm rod in it with stocker pistons where the wrist pin is moved up 6mm. I think it will be hella sick.
If you are staying stock frame I would go 2.4 MIVEC. You will love it. Perfect combo if you end up going with the FP Black in the future. Shoot for this build:
10:1 MIVEC 46G4 2.4L Long Rod (156mm Rod) with 288 cams of some sort. I like GSC but FP make a nice set too.

^ I'll be sure to do a nice write up on my motor. My motor is a bit different than everyone elses so I hope everything works out good in the end.
I have had a GSX-R 750, F4I, and a RR. I have to say the RR was hands down my favorite bike. The GSXR was faster but it didn't handle **** compared to the RR

He meant stroker not stocker.
However the correct term would be long rod since we arent stroking the 2.4 merely increasing the rod length and raising the compression height.

My next motor for my car is going to be a LR2.4 as well.
