Injector Help!!!

Oook so I have been having engine issues blah blah, took it into mitsubishi, they say replace the cylinder 2 injector. The thing is I needed it done by this friday. They could get me the replacement stock (which is what I am running now with basic bolt ons and not tuned) injector 500cc but for $200, which was the price most places were gonna charge me. The mechanic is an evo owner and told me he could order me Buschur 780cc injectors for the whole set for $300. My first thought was way better deal. But then of course I asked well would I need to get it tuned right away? He said not necessarily, as long as your not a super racer and dont push your car all the time. I ask my super car savvy fiance he said just stick with the stock injectors, asked around to a few other mechanic savvy guys and said it'll just run really rich. I just want to know if it would be a good deal to get the 780cc injectors or suck it up and get a single 500cc stock one if I wanted to get it tuned but not til the summer months...

Please help me out so if need be cancel my order for the 780s

thanks guys/gals in advance!

If you get larger than stock fuel injectors you will definitely need a retune ASAP for your car to run right. Just pick up a set of stock used injectors from someone on here.

To be 100% safe you'd really need to get a custom tune with a wideband. You can throw on generic scaling and latency values that would probably work ok, but unless you get a wideband on your car you won't know for sure. Since the mechanic gave bad advice regarding just throwing on larger fuel injectors you should really have his diagnosis of injector # 2 being bad confirmed by someone else. In EvoScan you can disable each injector individually.

The stockies are 560cc IIRC and as stated your car will idle and fuel like *** if you don't get them dialed in ASAP which is really not a big deal anyway if you have access to ECUFlash and Evoscan/Mitsulogger

Check the injector thread there is def scaling and latency values for those 780's

I do have an AEM wideband afr so I could keep an eye on things, but how much would just a reflash run?

But does anyone know of a place to go to tune it in columbus OH or MD?

Just find someone local to flash in some tried and true scaling and latency values, Log the car and make sure the trims and AFR's are in check.

You could reflash it yourself with a laptop, ECUFlash, and a Taxtrix cable. Otherwise, if there is no good tuner near you (looks like you're about 2 hours south of Buschur), Melon does great remote tunes.

you need to scale the bigger injectors. to do this you need to modify the injector scaling and battery voltage (latency/deadtime) in ecuflash. and get the fuel trims within -+5. I would say contact Mellon

Relfashing the ECU is very easy, and I have dialed in a few sets of injectors. If you decide to do it yourself just read up in the ECUFlash section of the board and make sure you fully understand what you're doing before starting and take things slowly. There are some good threads regarding injector scaling/latency values and how to dial them in.

Do not buy a stock Injector for $200. You can pick up a used set of stock Injectors on here for $100-$150. I dont like the idea of having 3 used up injectors and one new one either. I wouldnt trust another thing that Mechanic says either if he thought you could just drive around on bigger Injectors. Have you tried to contact Mellon yet? If not do so. I guarentee hes has some lying around and could help you out with everything.
