Lately I've been noticing the sulfur smell of rotten eggs coming from my car, sometimes rather strong. I pulled out on a major street and ran 1st & 2nd at about 80% throttle and then pulled over, and the smell was pretty strong. No RPM spikes, but the upper range didn't feel strong.

The exhaust is still stock at 116k miles for a 2003 VIII, and I'm wondering if I'm loosing my cat. After driving for 20 min on a 65 degree day, there's a "crick-crick-crick" heat expansion noise coming from the forward exhaust area when I shut the car down that sounds louder than I remember.

If it is the cat, the question is what to do with it; especially after Obama's downsizing eliminated my job. Ive been wanting a cat back, and then piece the exhaust cat forward as $ allowed.

If on a major budget, punch it out. You'll likely need a tune though, as morepsi mentioned.
