starter not engaging after clutch install

i am a newbie at this and I did a clutch install on my 06 Evo MR. now that its back together, the starter is not doing anything when i turn the key, i found a wire not connected (oops), it is black with a yellow stripe. it is a part of the rest of the wiring like the wiring running to the battery and to the starter and such. it is joined with the wiring near the upper back side of the engine between the engine and intake manifold. like i said i am a newbie, does anyone know where this connects to? it looks alot like the negative battery wire but end hole is smaller. i should have taken a pic when taking this apart. i think this wire might be why my starter is not doing anything. THANKS

That sounds like the ground wire that goes to the starter, goes on one of the starter bolts that go through the tranny and into the starter itself.

first pic is where the cable runs out of and i think ur right it is a ground but where is it supposed to go? it wont reach to the starter and i already have two things plugged into the starter, and i think i got that part correct.

the second pic is that wire (left) the postive battery connector (middle) and the negative battery connector (left) and obviously this unknown cable looks and might be the negative battery cable? maybe?

I had this issue. The wire is the negative cable coming from the battery. This is a pretty common problem with clutch installs apparantly. It connects to a bolt near the transmission union to the block. Make sure it is directly on the transmission as anything in between will weaken the ground.

Cliffs. It goes on one of the bolts that connect the transmission to the block. The one closest to the front of the car.

I went out to my car to take a pic. I was too lazy to run back in for the digital camera so it is a pic from my blackberry but you should get the idea of where. Remember the wire must have a VERY clean ground so directly to the transmission. Nothing in between or you will melt other grounds on your car when you try to start it.
