Just like a few have mentioned, every little bit helps and it adds up in the end. And, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Don't be afraid to try something new. I get tired of seeing all these cookie cutter evo's out there. No originality, no real thought put into it. Just doing what everyone else is doing.

And just so you know...VWJeff (another Buschur guy, 9 second BTW) runs a thermal gasket, Magnus stands behind them, STM uses them, AWD sells them, and Boomba promotes them.

So if you and your "Buschur powered" beast of a car don't want to use one, then don't. But don't step in here acting like you know for sure that they don't work. That's ignorance at it's finest and it sure seems like I'm seeing a trend here with guys like you.

on an EVO X one guy recorded temps and with the thermal gaskets the temps didn't rise as much and at idle they dropped quicker...thats proof enough for me

So can we get some actual proof, that they work or dont work. By work i mean show an improvement in hp&tq.

I have personally seen my friend's 240sx get dynoed back to back with oem gasket versus Touge Factory's thermal intake manifold gasket on his 500whp SR20DET.
gain wasn't huge... but 5whp gain from a $25.00 gasket....

I say it works.

Show me some fast evos that run the thermal barriers.

None of BR's 9's club run them...
who mentions what gaskets they're running when they put down 700whp...
I'm sure they're are tons of evo's making 500+whp but you'll never know if they have a thermal gasket....
Kinda ignorant statement dropping shop names with your assumptions.

Bro, the proof is in the science. It works, it always has worked and always will work. Less heat means a denser charge air. Less heat also means lower underhood temps, all of which = WIN.

So which intake manifold and throttle body gaskets are the best to use?
Are the MAP spacers any good? Any other brands that ppl recommend?

I just bought and installed the MAP throttle body gasket. Its made of some sort of plastic resin. Don't really know how well it holds up to high temps, but I guess we will find out. It is already ported for a 65mm throttle body, which will be nice when I eventually do upgrade the TB.

I'm going to be getting my IM ported this week, so I'll definitely be picking up an IM spacer/gasket to compliment it. My question is whether or not the IM spacer is going to be port matched to the ported manifold?

Put the MAP manifold and T-body one on. Before the intake manifold was very hot to touch. Would not suggest grabbing it. With the MAP gasket its much cooler to the touch, still warm but nothing like before

I've ran Hondata before, but never the one MAPerformance offers. Curious to know if it can handle the temps like a Hondata piece.

Hmm.. I never thought about the port matching.. as I was going to run a PPI throttle body and IM and just get the MAP TB and IM spacers...

Can anyone chime in on this?

+1

If mine isn't matched, I'll be digging out the dremel.

I had some thermal spacers made from some real Phenolic material. Pretty thick. Over 3/8 of an inch. Required some longer bolts. And the rear intake bracket to be ditched. Saves 5 pounds. Plenum temps average 25 less with it on. Would make more and sell them. But they aren't a five minute job to install. People are skeptical on the gains. On two of my EVOs saw 5-6 hp and a good 3-5 ft pounds of tq on average with just the spacer. Some of the gain is from the cooler intake, some from making the runners effectively longer.
