Buschur Exhaust w/Magnaflow!

Well, I got home from work today...doorbell rang...I went out to look and the UPS guy was heading back up to his truck. I looked over on the porch and there sat a brown box...from Buschur Racing!

Well, first thing I noticed was this box is pretty darn small to have a complete exhaust system in it...well, I opened it up...pulled out a purty new downpipe. Next came the high-flow cat...then the test pipe...then the beautiful Magnaflow muffler! Just a small scratch on the tip...nothing some polish couldn't take care of I'm sure!

But then I got to thinking...ya know, there's more to this than what I have here...I'm missing the center pipe (from cat to muffler). So I upend the box...NADA. No center pipe!

So I guess I won't be putting on my new exhaust this weekend I'm sure it was just an oversight or something, but it sure was heartbreaking!!!

Must...have...patience....

Not an oversite, the cat back pipe shipped seperately. It will be there shortly.

Enjoy your exhaust. BTW, when you install it, the round style hanger that is on the cat back pipe goes behind the last rubber hanger. Make sure you line everything up and set all the clearances BEFORE you tighten the clamps down. When you tighten them down tighten them TIGHT.

Thanks and good luck,

David Buschur

Yep yep, got the center pipe today! I guess UPS hosed that one up

Anyways, this exhaust is just massive, first time I've had a 3" exhaust

Now I just have to find someone with a lift to put it on

Oh yeah, do you have to take those bars loose up by the downpipe to get the old d/p off and the new d/p on?

Use **well secured** jackstands. It is a cakewalk.

I PM'd back I'm a little slow on those, sorry

Jackstands scare me! I was contemplating doing it myself, my brother has some Rhino ramps (the plastic, low ones) so maybe I could do it with those...?

My 34 yr old brother is more excited about modding my car than I am I think so it's a good chance he'll help me out.

I'll post back asap and let everyone know the results!

*UPDATE*

You didn't think I could let a new exhaust system sit in my living room until Monday until someone at a shop could put it on, did ya?

First things first... UPS for putting their stinking (literally) shipping label right on the main pipe of the catback section!

There, now I feel better!

On to the exhaust. I'll start with my "problems" so far. First problem was clearance. The crossmembers (I get that name right?) under the car get spacers a la downpipe purchase. The front crossmember on my car needed 2 3/8" spacers on each bolt to keep the downpipe from making contact. No big deal, but I'm wondering if I might have flubbed somewhere on installation - although everything lines up pretty well.

The next problem I'm having is that the cat is rattling its *** off at high RPM. Very annoying and I'm guessing it's pretty isolated and hopefully can be repaired or maybe, once again, there's something I didn't quite grasp upon installation - I never said I was a master mechanic.

Now, on to my impression of this exhaust system, but first I must explain what I was HOPING for out of an exhaust system. I wanted something that was a little louder than stock, but not obnoxiously loud. I wanted something with great flow, which would give a "butt dynoable" increase in power. I also wanted a quality looking and feeling system. I GOT ALL THREE.

This exhaust opens up to be fairly loud at WOT, but almost stock sounding at cruise speeds and idle. It does have a little bit more of a rumble at idle, but not too loud at all!

When I first started the car and took it down the road, I begun to think that I just got screwed out of almost a thousand bucks. The car DIDN'T feel faster. But as I drove more, I realized, this car no longer PEAKS like it did stock. Before it would have a rush of HP around 3800-4500 RPM and pretty much peter out towards redline. THAT IS GONE. With this exhaust, it now starts the rush of HP around 3200RPM and continues strong all the way to 7000+RPM. Quite nice

Overall, I'm very happy! The cat thing I'm sure can be resolved and the spacers were nothing. This exhaust is exactly what I wanted and then some. Very nice, Buschur Racing

The rattling is normal. The catco cat you have is simply just too big. If you look at the stock cat, its round instead of flat like the catco. I have the same problems and it's very annoying. When I installed the test pipe, no rattles or noises but it was super loud. Just starting the car in the morning wakes up the dead.

Hmmm. I had mine installed at Buschur Racing on Friday, and I have absolutly no rattling at all from the cat. I should have taken pics when it was up on the lift! Perhaps the cat is angled a little the way they put it on instead of being parallel to the ground...

Keith

PS: I love my system as well!

A rattling cat is NOT normal.

I had to angle the cat also to get it to fit under the car...no big deal really - unless it's what's causing the rattle...

are the spacers an isolated incident or is it required for the installation?

I'm guessing isolated?

We (my brother and I) installed the new exhaust from the downpipe back. After setting everything up, the front crossbar was REALLY close, so we added a single 3/8" washer to help space it out some (in addition to the spacer provided). After driving it around a bit, we got back and apparently the heat caused some things to shift and I may have had 1/16" of clearance between the downpipe and front crossmember. I then added another washer just to be safe.

Just the normal spacer that came with the downpipe was enough for the rear crossmember.
