gates timing belt

i am on a budget and was looking around the web for everything to do the 60k service. i am assuming there is a gates "racing" belt and a normal one? i found the gates #T167 belt for like 25 bucks. are they good? car is stock is stock and will stay that way for a while, no money just want to do the 60k so i dont have to worry about it for a while.
thanks
Dave

I use a gates timing belt and no problems, i changed out mine due to damaging my old one while installing new cams(dont ask), only have bout 3k on it so far, so might not be the best source but had no problems with it so far. i also have gates serpentine belt with no problems, but with a stock set up id just go with an OEM one less you can get a gates cheaper

supposedly all gates belts are lined with a little Kevlar, and i have both the oem one and the regular gates timing belt and honestly they look identical

Mitsubishiparts.net sells the gates as an upgrade from the oem, as for the blue gates belt i am not exactly sure on the difference other than the color, search it on this forum, i have seen a few threads about people running them and their experiences

I bought a gates belt just because I was at Oreillys and needed something now so I could get my engine in my car. Also used gates for the accessory belt.. was kind of a pain in the *** to get the accessory belt on but maybe it's just because it's not 100% oem.. lol. I hope everything works out with it. I figure my oem one got me to 70,000 miles, a gates should at least get me until my next motor blows! lol.

Gates makes quality hoses and belts. When I replace my belts I'll most likely go with Gates if they're available.

We run a Gates to 10,500 on the Eclipse drag car and the RB (the blue one) belt on the white car. Neither have had any issues.

Anyone know where to order a set of Gates timing, balance and drive belts at a good price? At 71k, the time has come.

I am in the process of doing my 60k service and i went with the Gates belts(timing, balance belt and serpentine). I recommend going with the Timing kit and the upgraded Gates belts from Mitsubishiparts.net. They are the cheapest i have seen....and have free ground shipping.

Sorry for taking this thread from hell, but Aaron: You are sayin' about this blue kevlar Gates or oem replacement (black colored belt) ?
